Everyone needs a passion or love for something or someone. It is what drives us to get out of bed in the morning, it is something that truly makes you happy and it gives you purpose. This is a tall order for human beings — we are always learning and growing and exploring who we are. Love is different for all of us yet holds the same importance, no matter what our walk of life may be. There are few things in life that I love. I love my family, dark chocolate, dogs, and design. But most importantly I love LOVE. I am passionate about finding love in everything I do.
The law of attraction is the belief that by focusing on positive thoughts a person will bring positive experiences into their life. On my first date with my now husband I knew that there was a natural connection between us, the law of attraction was in full effect. It was like something inside me lite up and I couldn't see a future without him. It wasn't hard to find love in something that felt so natural to me. What is hard is finding love in something that you have nothing but negativity towards.
The reverse side of that same law of attraction statement says that by focusing on the negative thoughts a person will bring negativity into their life. Being negative is something that everyone struggles with at some point it is part of our nature to feel and express our emotions, good or bad. Here are some things to remember when you start to feel like the negativity is taking over:
- Look for the good even if its small, sometimes one good thing can overpower 100 bad things. This can be difficult, I know because I suffer from negative target fixation (and yes, thats a real thing).
- Forget about being your own worst enemy — become your own best friend. You can and should pave your own path to positivity. The only person you are letting down with your negative thoughts is yourself!
- Pull out the negativity weeds. The minute you plant the negativity seed it will continue to grow. The minute you feel that seed being planted get it out of there fast before it plants roots!
- As Elsa would say, let it go. I have found that sometimes the easiest way to get something off my chest is to talk about it (or sing about it).
- Bring the positivity to someone else. Kindness is contagious sometimes when you are feeling bad the easiest way to feel good is to make someone else feel good.
Thank you for taking the time to read some of my thoughts. This blog is a glimpse into the guidelines I live my life by. My Life Rules (pun intended)!
